Val, originally from Nashville, graduated from Christ Presbyterian Academy in 1996. She went on to the University of Tennessee in Knoxville where she earned a degree in Business. After college, she decided to pursue her true passion, doing hair.
Val attended and graduated from New Directions Hair Academy in Nashville. After Cosmetology school she assisted Richard Dion, and was trained under his expertise.

1. What are you typically doing when you are not at Dion's?
Hanging out with my family, friends, and my three dogs, Nick, Tabitha and Lydia.
2. What is your favorite product or product combination?
My fave is a cocktail of Kerastase Serum Oleo Relax with Lait Nutri-Sculpt. It gives you a smooth and soft blow dry while still maintaining volume. It even speeds up drying time!
3. What vintage hairstyle do you wish would come back?
Audrey Hepburn's classic and timeless look.
4. What CD is in your player at the moment?
Better than Ezra
5. If you could go back to any era to do hair, which would it be?
The 40's
6. What inspires you?
Both Gwen Stefani and Madonna are inspirations because they are always changing and never afraid to show their personalities through their hair.
