Richard began his career in Southern California, where he worked at Vidal Sassoon’s Beverly Hills Salon. It was there he honed his skills in precision cutting by creating personal styles tailored for each client. The style of Vidal Sassoon has been an influence to the structure implemented in all of Richard’s salons.
For twelve years Richard owned two salons in Pasadena, CA. He then decided to move to Franklin, Tennessee for a lifestyle more suited for his family. He was attracted to the historic buildings and charm of Downtown Franklin. Dion’s South Salon on Main Street was born.
To this day Richard uses the apprenticeship program, similar to the Sassoon procedure. Every week Richard leads the apprentices in a haircutting class with a heavy focus on technique while evoking creativity. It is through discipline and determination an apprentice becomes a stylist at the salon.
